Responsible Gun Ownership

Posted by in Patient Safety

You’re probably thinking to yourself what does a female nurse know about firearms. You’re right I can’t strip down a pistol with the speed and precision of a Navy Seal. Nonetheless, as a nurse I am trained to identify and eliminate threats to our health as well our as families. Not only am I a health care provider but I visualize myself as an advocate as well. Safety is a priority in all of our lives and with over half of the population being gun owners addressing a common threat is not a bad idea. It is not about a political agenda or whether you need one or not. As long as we can help keep our patients safe by educating them on how to responsibly secure their weapons, you can prevent a tragedy that is more lethal than any cancer or disease.
